William Hartnell :: 1963 - 1966

William Hartnell

Background
William Hartnell was best described for his role as the Doctor as a grandfather figure with a heart of gold. He was crotchety but with a sharp intellect for those who had concern for others especially his 'granddaughter', Susan.The Doctor first appears in Totters Lane, London. He blames Susan for letting Ian and Barbara getting themselves into the TARDIS. He was always worried about staying in one place to long; "They must have followed you. That ridiculous school! I knew something like this would happen if we stayed in one place too long" An Unearthly Child.

The First Doctor also made cameo appearances in "The Three Doctors" "The Five Doctors" who was played by Richard Hurndall.We never got to learn the Doctors origins through this incarnation of the Doctor
