Captain Jack
Jack in Parting of the Ways
Played by John Barrowman
2005
Mysterious Time Agent from the future, arrived in 1941 on a stolen Chula warship, trying to pull a con on curious time travellers. Having forced a Chula ambulance pod to Earth, he hopes to make a fortune, aware that the pod will be obliterated by a German bomb before long. He saves Rose from certain death after she falls from a barrage balloon. They go to Albion Hospital, where the Doctor tells him the ambulance is causing chaos. He helps rescue the Doctor and Rose from an attack by the Child's victims. They visit the bombsite, where the Doctor struggles to stop the spread of the Chula nanobots. After prompting by the Doctor, Jack uses his spaceship to snatch the German bomb away before it lands. The TARDIS then rescues him from his ship before the bomb can explode.

After a short rumble in Cardiff, where Jack supervises things in the TARDIS whilst everyone else sees the sights, he finds himself in the future on a Makeover game show. He blasts his way free, finds the Doctor, but are unable to save Rose. He finds the missing TARDIS, and identifies the Dalek fleet. He leads the resistance effort to hold the Daleks back and buy the Doctor time. He is the last man standing, but even he is killed. Fortunately, an omnipotent Rose brings him back to life, but he misses the departing TARDIS

Jack will be back in Torchwood spin off series and later back for Dr Who series 3
