Elisabeth Sladen - 1948-2011

On 19 April 2011 all Doctor Who fans round the world were shocked to hear the passing of Elisabeth Sladen who played Sarah Jane in Doctor Who from 1973-1976 who worked along, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker however she appeared with Peter Davison in the Five Doctors, passed away 19 April due to cancer
Lis first appeared in the story the Time Warrior in 1973. She continued to play the role from 1973 and saw Jon Pertwee depart in Planet of the Spiders and followed Tom Baker as the Doctor till the Hand of Fear in 1976. She made a guest appearance in the Five Doctors and made a final appearance in Doctor Who in Dimensions in Time. She continued the role a series of Big Finish Audios in a spin off series called the Sarah Jane Adventures. She made a guest appearance in The Stolen Earth/Journeys End/End of Time and Matt Smith appeared in the Sarah Jane Adventures.
Along side filming of Doctor Who, Lis enjoyed attending Doctor Who conventions.
She was very popular with fans and such a gentle person. She was the first companion I met and it was an honor to meet my favourite companion first. I first met her at Panopticon 2000 in 2000. This was my first major convention and I and was scared stiff but by the time I got to know her she was such a nice person and shook my hand and kissed me thanking me finding her hotel room; she said Hello and said it was nice to meet me.
I will never forget meeting such a nice and warm gentle person and she will truly be a sad loss to Doctor Who and acting in general
