Trivia
  • William Shakespeare, then played by Hugh Walters, had previously appeared in the first part of the six part serial Doctor Who: The Chase
  • The "Harry Potter" in-jokes in this episode continue the connections between the HP and DOCTOR WHO universes -- chief among them being, of course, that David Tennant played Barty Crouch Jr. in the film of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." Other crossover performances include Zoe Wanamaker (the villainous trampoline Cassandra in "End of the World" and "New Earth" and also Madam Hooch in "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone") -- and Shirley Henderson (Ursula Blake in "Love and Monsters" and also Moaning Myrtle in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and "Goblet of Fire.") Perhaps the most interesting crossover has been the appearance of Roger Lloyd-Pack, who was John Lumic in "Age of Steel" and "Rise of the Cybermen" -- and also Barty Crouch, Sr. in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," playing the father of the character played by David Tennant.
  • The Doctor says that Martha Jones is from the country of Freedonia. This is the name of the fictional country in the Marx Brother’s film “Duck Soup”.
